We offer discounts for group bookings of 15 or more people. If you're planning a group visit, please get in touch with us at info@puzzlingworld.co.uk, and we'll be happy to discuss the details.
Our booking system offers slots every 15 minutes, with a maximum of 18 guests per slot. During busy periods, this may mean your group will not be the only one entering at that time, but once inside, you are free to explore the attraction at your own pace.
Please note that the guest limit includes any children under 5 years old accompanying your group. Non-paying guests over the age of 5 are not permitted to accompany the group unless they are a carer.
Yes, you can visit on your own, but it's often better with others. Our staff are available to assist if you'd like photos taken, or for certain illusions that work better with more than one person.
On average The Puzzling World of Professor Kettlestring's experience will last around 45 minutes for 2 guests and an up to an hour for 6 guests. This includes time to get in to the venue (usually 15 minutes) and enjoy the 9 immersive realms.
At weekends and during school holidays you may have a longer wait to get in to the venue and we will always endeavour to get you in as quickly as possible and at your booked time slot.
The Professor and Custodians appreciate your patience in advance.
Minimum age to experience Professor Kettlestring's mind boggling inventions is 5. Children under 5 accompanying the group must be booked in with a complimentary ticket in order to attend for free.
Children aged 15 and under must be accompanied in their group by someone over 16.
We recommend pre-booking where possible and particularly at weekends and holidays to guarantee the time you would like to enjoy our exhibits.
We do however always welcome fellow followers of puzzlingness and imaginosity. If we have space you can pay on the door.
We don't have parking at the attraction itself, but the nearest car park is at the Coppergate Centre (Piccadilly, York YO1 9NX). Alternatively, you can visit Parkopedia.co.uk to find other local parking options nearby.
Yes, there are four professional photo spots with flashes, mostly self-operated. If you're concerned, please let our staff know, and they will be happy to assist you.
Due to the structure of the building and nature of some of our exhibits, those with access needs; particularly wheelchair users will not be able to enjoy the full experience and access all the immersive realms.
Professor Kettlestring's Puzzling World is all on one level with wheelchair access available, however the accessible entrance in to the immersive realms is through the gift shop.
We do have an accessible toilet.

Our quieter times are typically weekdays, outside of school holidays, as well as weekends after 3:30 PM. These times are usually calmer, making them ideal for neurodivergent visitors or anyone seeking a quieter experience. If you're unsure or have any specific needs, feel free to contact our staff before your visit—we'd be happy to assist in ensuring your visit is as comfortable as possible.
Unfortunately, we do not currently accept these for discounts. However, we endeavour to keep our prices affordable for everyone.
To enjoy our mind-boggling exhibits the most, food and drinks are not permitted within The Puzzling World.
Pushchairs are allowed inside the attraction during our quieter times. However, if it's busy, we have space to store them in the gift shop while you enjoy your visit. Please check with a member of staff upon arrival, and they'll be happy to assist you.
Those that pre-book have an allocated time slot and we allow 15 minutes around your bookings for you to start, if you are running late we will do our best to accommodate you, but nothing is guaranteed and you may have to wait a short while for the next available entry slot.
If you miss the day of your slot all together I am afraid there are no refunds but please email us and we will try to help the best we can to accomodate you at a later date.
